The Dylan Hotel is a luxury Midtown boutique hotel. Located in the city’s vibrant core, the best of New York City is just outside your front door at the Dylan. The hotel is just a short walk from Grand Central Station, New York’s Jacob Javits Convention Center, Times Square, Central Park, Fifth Avenue Shopping and the great restaurants of Manhattan. Dylan’s interiors, by Jeffrey Beers of Jeffrey Beers International, mark a deliberate departure from both the too stark and overly hip designs currently prevalent in the high-end boutique hotel market. Beers has created a timeless look for the property that redefines opulence for a new age while preserving the landmark-quality architecture of the 1903 Beaux-Arts structure.
Features and Amenities
The Dylan boasts 107 rooms and suites, each decorated in a classic yet chic style by Jeffrey Beers. Throughout the hotel you will find unique architecture, hip design and stylish decor. In counterpoint to the understated design of the hotels public areas, the corridors and guest rooms have been done in a more muted color palette, utilizing different textures and tones of carpeting, as well as residential number plaques and lamps that give a sense of arrival to each room. Interior design features include rich jewel-toned fabrics, Carrara marble sinks and American walnut fixtures and furnishings. The 11 foot ceilings in each guest room and suite not only complement the design, but offer a feeling of spaciousness not found in the average New York City hotel. Rooms offer in-room refreshments, bathrobes and slippers, work desks for business travelers, dual-line phones with dataports and voicemail, and complimentary WiFi.
Originally built as the Benjamin Steakhouse lecture hall, generations of family, friends and neighbors have all stopped in to enjoy great food and libations in the warm and cozy atmosphere of the hotel’s in-house restaurant, the Benjamin Steakhouse. The restaurant’s decor is quite unlike that of most of the eateries in the city – step in to the warmth and coziness of rich woods, vaulted ceilings and a crackling fireplace and you’ll feel as though you’ve left Manhattan and been transported to a cozy, albeit luxurious, ski cabin upstate. The hotel also boasts a business center, state of the art fitness center and plenty of event space for large business meetings. Staff at the Dylan are multi-lingual, and provide valet, laundry and dry cleaning services, as well as 24-hour concierge service.
The Dylan Hotel is located on East 41st Street in Midtown Manhattan, right down the street from the beautiful Bryant Park, Midtown’s green oasis, and the New York Public Library, which backs the park. If you’re a Sex and the City fan, you’ll recognize the interiors of the NYPL as the scene in which Carrie almost marries Mr. Big in the movie. Bryant Park and the library are two gorgeous New York landmarks – but the Dylan also isn’t far from all the action of Times Square and the busier areas of Midtown. Some of the city’s greatest shopping can be found along upper Fifth Avenue – everyone from H&M to Louis Vuitton calls the stretch home. The Dylan is also close to other New York landmarks, such as the Empire State Building, Rockefeller Center and Bryant Park. Visiting in the winter? Take advantage of the ice skating rink at Bryant Park, or sip a coffee at Bryant Park Cafe and have a look at the skaters without freezing yourself. You’re also not far from Broadway, where all of the world’s greatest stars have taken a turn on stage. Also close by: Grand Central Station, the United Nations, the Flatiron building…the sightseeing options are endless!
